Prices for cold-rolled coil and galvanized sheet in the USA have again spiked. This is reported by metalbulletin on its website. Buyers requiring spot material do not expect any short-term relief from domestic mills. Here, delivery times may extend in the meantime to spring 2021.
Prices up over 72% since August
Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for cold-rolled steel strip, fob mill US, jumped to $53.50 per hundredweight ($1,070 per short ton) on Thursday, December 17, from $52 per cwt ($1,040 per ton) on December 10. The valuation has now gained 72.58% since slipping to a one-year low of $31 per cwt in mid-August.
