Turkey imported 486,500 mt of stainless coils in the first ten months of 2020. This represents an increase of 38,000 mt in import volumes compared to the same period last year. Chinese suppliers in particular were able to expand their market shares in Turkey.
Import duties do not stop Turkish imports
Despite import duties on many steel products imposed due to the Covid 19 pandemic, imports of stainless sheet increased.
However, EU countries and countries with which Turkey has free trade agreements, including South Korea, were exempted from this tariff increase.
