German company Thyssenkrupp wants to close its plate rolling mill because it has not found a buyer, while it is still holding talks with several other steel producers to find a buyer or partner for the entire steel unit in difficulty until a decision is made in March next year, the company said on November 19.
The company is also evaluating whether a “stand-alone” future strategy can work without a partner for the steel unit. The company also pointed out that the switch to green steel would require state financing and that it was in discussion with the state and federal governments.
In October Thyssenkrupp received a non-binding offer from Liberty Steel for its steel unit.
