29 September 2022 – The second day of Stainless Steel World 2022 showed how urgently available stainless steel material is currently being sought at short notice. And the alloy and energy cost surcharges of the large EU manufacturers are increasing across the board, in some cases very significantly.
Stainless steel stock material in high demand
Also on the second day at Stainless Steel World 2022, one of the defining and decisive themes was the demand for stock goods available at short notice, especially in the area of flat-rolled products such as hot- and cold-rolled coils and sheets.
The picture that is also emerging at the fair is that stocks are currently emptying faster and faster and there is now an urgent need for purchasers to catch up.
EU alloy surcharges for October 2022 increase across the board
All major European stainless producers have raised their alloy surcharges for October 2022, in some cases by up to 6%. But also the energy surcharges in stainless production continue to rise. In some cases, they were even raised by almost 28% compared to the previous month.
