The domestic flat steel market in Russia’s central federal district around Moscow was quiet after the break for the New Year holidays, but with a continued positive sentiment supported by bullish exports, sources told Fastmarkets on Monday, January 11.

Hot rolled sheet

Fastmarkets’ weekly price assessment for hot-rolled (HR) steel plate, domestic, cpt Moscow, Russia, rose to 60,500-62,000 rubles ($816-837) per ton including 20% VAT on Monday, up from 58,000 rubles per ton in the previous two assessments.

Just before the holidays, Severstal raised its HR plate price for stockholders to 60,500 rubles per tonne cpt Moscow for January. Material from MMK, however, was reportedly available at 62,000 rubles per tonne cpt Moscow.
