Raw materials remain positive on Friday

14 March 2025 – Raw material prices on the Asian and European commodity exchanges have improved, in some cases significantly, compared to the previous week. Nickel and iron ore prices in particular rose by more than 3%.

Raw materials remain positive on Friday

The week provided an upswing for raw materials and base metals in particular. Compared to last Friday, prices on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) for aluminium (+0.62%), zinc (+0.94%), lead (+1.75%), copper (+2.72%) and nickel (+3.17%) improved, in some cases significantly.

Copper, lead, aluminium and nickel were also up at the start of trading on the London Metal Exchange (LME). The price of 3-month nickel on the LME improved by more than 1.3% in the meantime.

Philippine nickel ore prices rise

Philippine nickel ore prices rose by up to 3.23% today, after Indonesian prices had already risen over the week. The Indonesian Nickel Pig Iron FOB Index also rose by almost 1.8% today.

Iron ore prices rise again

After a brief dip in iron ore prices on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) since the beginning of February, iron ore futures improved significantly again this week. Compared to Monday, iron ore prices rose by more than 4%.

Overall, a very positive week for the price development of base metals and other commodities.
