The rumour mill about a possible outcome of the current review of the EU Safeguard measure on certeain steel products has been churning for several weeks now. As we have now learnt from several independent sources and have also received in writing, an indiscretion in Brussels has led to a leak of the possible Safeguard Review results.
In particular, the deliberately spread rumours about a significant tightening in the area of flat-rolled stainless steel (Safeguard product categories 8, 9, 10) do not appear to be true. In future, you should therefore think carefully about how you want to deal with such sales practices and how you want to support them with possible purchases from these market participants.

Thorsten Gerber, CEO of the Gerber Group, is once again travelling to the European Parliament this week to talk to MEPs about the acute challenges facing small and medium-sized enterprises in the steel and metal processing industry.
The first conclusion of this week in Parliament: MEPs are clearly more open to the concerns and needs of European SMEs. Even though a great deal of educational and persuasive work will still be required here, the fundamental will for change is becoming increasingly apparent, particularly with regard to the EU CO2 Border Tax CBAM and the issue of excessive bureaucracy.
