Increasing delivery times for stainless steel in Europe

And even if some people don’t want to believe it, many buyers and companies in the European Union are currently facing increasing delivery times for stainless steel. As we have been told from southern Europe, delivery times have already reached August. And considering the holiday season, these delivery times are likely to be as early as September 2024.

In view of emptying warehouses, solutions must be found quickly if the increasing demand in the EU is to be successfully met in the coming months.

Rising prices for flat rolled products

At the same time, prices for flat-rolled stainless steel products are rising. Not only in the European market have they increased by several percentage points compared to March, but prices are also rising again in Asia.

Nickel and stainless steel scrap prices rise

LME nickel prices have risen considerably in recent days and closed at $18,000/MT yesterday (Tuesday).Today, the nickel price in London continues to be favourable and was quoted at around $18.477/MT (9:30 am CEST).

Chinese stainless steel scrap prices have also returned with a jump of around 2%, which should provide an outlook for the global price development of this important recycling raw material.
