Prices for flat steel products higher in South America

Import prices for flat steel products in South America continued their nearly three-month upward trend as Chinese material was offered at higher levels for March 2021 and April 2021 deliveries due to continued domestic strength.

Customers await January prices

However, interest from buyers waned ahead of the year-end holidays, market participants said. Most customers waited to see if prices would adjust downward next month, while some of the few orders were rejected by mills expecting the upward trend to continue.
