31 May 2024 – The EU Safeguard measure against certain steel products will be extended until mid-2026, according to the Commission. The purely politically motivated decision was already submitted to the WTO on Tuesday. The EU anti-dumping measure against stainless steel tubes from China will also be extended again.
EU submits Steel Safeguard decision to WTO
Unsurprisingly, the European Commission has announced its intention to extend the EU Safeguard measure until mid-2026. The EC had already notified this information to the World Trade Organization (WTO) on Tuesday, 28 May 2024, but only deemed it necessary to inform the parties involved in the review process yesterday, Thursday. This once again clearly underlined the importance of facts and realities in this process on the part of the EU and domestic steel producers.

Stainless steel pipes and tubes from China: EU extends anti-dumping measure
Today, Friday, the European Commission also officially announced the extension of the anti-dumping measure against stainless steel tubes from China. The Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/1475 of 30 May 2024 imposing a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of certain seamless pipes and tubes of stainless steel originating in the People’s Republic of China states that the anti-dumping duties of 48.3 to 71.9% will be maintained.
