China: Caixin PMI at highest level in 5 months
In China, sentiment in the private sector improved slightly in November – as indicated by the cross-sector Caixin Purchasing Managers’ Index. At 52.3 points, it signals the strongest momentum in five months. The companies surveyed reported significant growth in export orders.
SMEs again just a side note for the work of the EU Commission?
The competitiveness of European companies is to be the focus of the work of the von der Leyen Commission 2. The topic, which was already much quoted during the election campaign and at the latest since the Draghi paper on EU competitiveness, contains ambitious proposals and ideas that should also benefit small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Von der Leyen already disappointed SMEs in her first term of office
Back in 2019, von der Leyen promised to do more for SMEs in the EU. The fact that this promise has turned into a bureaucratic nightmare with a deluge of new reporting obligations and ever new administrative hurdles for SMEs was not understood or ignored in Brussels for a long time, and the bureaucratic madness has continued to expand.
Commission work program 2025 – SMEs only a side note again
Even though SMEs have recently been increasingly used as a buzzword in European politics again, SMEs only appear as a side note in a recently leaked draft for the “Commission work program 2025”. Which makes us wonder when this ignorant person will realize the importance of the people and companies that pay their salaries.
Because one thing is clear: small and medium-sized enterprises are the indispensable backbone of the European economy. They should be worth more than just a side note in the “Commission work program 2025” and should be the central focus of Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and no longer just the multinational corporations she likes to surround herself with.
